Thin Films Lab

The Thin Films Lab started its work in 1974, almost at the same time the Institute did, by making antireflection layer deposits, reflectors, beam divisors and some filters. Some research projects have been for Masters and Doctorates theses. The lab dedicates most of its infrastructure to the internal optics maintenance required by all Institute labs, we also carry out external projects in diverse optics that need come type of coating to improve their performance.

The lab has evaporation equipment, in making telescope mirrors, all that is necessary is to deposit aluminum in one of them. In other equipment many deposits can be done using numerous materials which enable researchers to carry out different projects.
