Jorge Castro

Dr. Jorge Castro Ramos is an expert in the field of optics, particularly in Biomedical Optics, Optical Testing, and Optical Design. He is a founding member of the Biomedical Optics Instrumentation Group and Researcher at the Optics Coordination of the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics, and Electronics (INAOE), holding the position of Researcher B and being a member of the National System of Researchers at level 1.

Dr. Castro Ramos has an impressive educational background, obtaining his Bachelor's degree in Physics from the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, his Master's degree in Optics, and a Doctorate in Optics at INAOE. His doctoral research focused on the design of optical systems for fluorescence detection in the Pierre Auger Project. Committed to advancing the frontiers of knowledge, Dr. Castro Ramos conducted postdoctoral studies at the Optical Sciences Center of the University of Arizona, where he contributed to the "Automatic Ronchi Tester" project from February 2000 to February 2002. His research interests include biomedical optics, optical testing, and optical design. He specializes in developing and enhancing optical systems, demonstrating a strong commitment to their application in the biomedical field. As the responsible leader of the Biomedical Optics Laboratory, Dr. Jorge Castro Ramos continues to make significant advances in the research of chronic degenerative diseases. His innovative work and academic excellence have earned him respect within the scientific community, establishing him as a key figure in advancing the field of biomedical optics.
