Biomedical Optics Instrumentation Group (GIOB)

GRUPO

The Biomedical Optics Instrumentation Group (GIOB) at the Optics Coordination of the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics, and Electronics (INAOE) was established in 2006 by Dr. Sergio Vázquez y Montiel, Dr. Jorge Castro Ramos, and Dr. José Alberto Delgado Atencio. Since its initiation, GIOB has focused on researching chronic degenerative diseases and fostering the development of professionals equipped to apply their expertise in the healthcare sector.

At GIOB, we firmly believe in the importance of early diagnosis to save lives. Therefore, we focus on researching optical and spectroscopic techniques that enable non-invasive diagnostics using only light. Our commitment to advance medicine through the development of innovative tools that improve disease detection, all with the overarching objective of enhancing people's quality of life.

Mission

Our mission is to drive research and development of optical and spectroscopic techniques for early and non-invasive diagnosis of chronic degenerative diseases. Our dedication lies in fostering the development of highly skilled professionals and facilitating the transfer of knowledge to the healthcare industry, thereby making substantial contributions to improving people's quality of life.

Vision

Our vision at GIOB is to be an international reference in optical instrumentation field applied to biomedicine. We strive to be leaders in the research and development of innovative technologies that enable early and accurate disease detection and development of a scientific and professional community committed to excellence and the advancement of medicine. We aim for global recognition and utilization of our research and developments, which significantly contribute to diagnosis, besides facilitate access to quality healthcare for all.
